Radar Detector – Technologies and Tips

Are you interested in having a radar detector? If so, the information below provides a valuable insight into the different technologies in use today. You can even get to know about lidar technology firms through online search.

DOPPLER RADAR

One of the technologies used by law enforcement agencies to measure the speed of a moving vehicle is a Doppler radar gun. It will beam radio waves gun in the vehicle to determine the vehicle's speed by measuring the change in frequency of the reflected wave. These devices can be handheld, mounted on a vehicle or object is positioned at fixed, such as a traffic signal.

LIDAR DETECTOR

speed detection devices are newer uses pulsed laser light is called LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). With LIDAR gun, the police will most likely be aimed plate or lights. With such a focused beam, an officer using a LIDAR gun can target a car near others at distances up to 3,000 feet. Moreover, laser weapons emit a constant signal, making them difficult to detect on radar guns.

Due to the fact that the laser gun emits a highly accurate, narrow beam compared with the radar gun, its use is rapidly rising. The pinpoint beams can detect laser weapons more difficult, but not impossible.

However, the warning will generally provide shorter distance in which to slow down before it registers your speed. Despite the introduction of LIDAR speed detection, radar remains of dopplar more common because of the lower price and the amount of equipment already in service.
